A SAD ONE: My brother-in-law died this week. Very sad for all the family. He was a kind man and will be missed by his family and friends. Of course when death comes to a friend or family member, it frequently triggers a flood of past losses, sad feelings and nostalgia on one end and memories of pleasant pasts. May you rest in peace David!
A BUSY ONE: Wow, this was a very busy week and weekend. Started off with a team meeting of my ASU team and a look at rebuilding our SPE 416 class for the Spring of 2010. Thanks to Kathy Rutowski, I will be able to maintain my employment at ASU with a new starting class (TEL 311) for Fall 2009. It will be difficult to restructure a class and I'm already prepping for an upcoming busy year.
A NEW ONE: Austin's B'day was this week. Darryl, Chell, Austin and Evan and I went to the movies and saw UP . The kids were amazing while there. Evan was totally taken up with the music and the little people, and Austin was very attentive as well. Went back to their house, had a swim and ate some very tasty hamburgers. It was a low key day....very nice!
Tonight, we celebrated Michelle's B'day. I have a real appreciation of the saying, "Time Flies". Seems like yesterday when I held Michelle for the first time and now here we are 39 years later, geeze!
ANOTHER NEW ONE: I met a very interesting man a couple of weeks ago and we've been out a few times now. It amazes me at how he can make a simple activity so much fun. I have really enjoyed going out with him, and look forward to getting to know him much better. I've also met some extremely nice people through him.
